The beginning of a journey to self discovery!

A new chapter in life has just begun and I've met three of the most amazing people to start it with. From the left meet Dawnell, Emily, Kadian (me) and Darcia. Four missionaries on a quest to share the love of Jesus with the children from the Marantha Adventist Bilingual School and whosoever they meet during the course of their stay! Welcome to my picture blog :)

We are really not posers... ;)
The view from out house...looking left lol

Nelly our dumplin expert knows exactly how we like it!
Lol taste the pot Cia! She just knows exactly what it needs to bring it off!
The jovens (youths) of Maranatha youth church after sabbath lunch. They kinda just turned up on a spur of the moment thing which kinda threw us off but then again-this is Honduras!
Meet Jim! Our friendly house pet :D
Dressed for work on one of the hottest days in Comayagua!
We eat so good it's ALMOST a sin!
We do like to bake! Welcome to the shortcake cookies-que rico!
Ran out of space when baking the cookies so we needed to use the grater as a cooling rack-are you kidding me!
                                            Home-made crackers.
                                           Making crackers is fun!
So is eating them! They kinda taste like communion bread!....
Had a hair emergency Sabbath morning.
Las gemalas decided to help a sister out....did I mention that I love this guys :D

Friday morning chapel with the 1st - 3rd graders

The city is surrounded by mountains and I absolutely love the stunning views!

I was trying to blend in with the surroundings here.

Interesting church-and to make the service interesting, there were cows on the other side of the fence and it rained heavily. On top of that it was windy!
Las chicas con Effie-another teacher that teaches at the school with us :) Un buen amiga.

Lesson 1-Brushing one's teeth by candle light when the power goes out.
Searching for Jim-he got into my room and we had to get him out!
                                                                       There you go!
                                                                             Frazzled!
                                                                   I think he got away.

Now he's out all is good!

Aww some on got super glue on their fingers!

INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE!

                                                           Beautiful traditional dresses

Everyone comes out in their uniforms-all the schools attend and parade their dancers (to follow).

                                                        Maranatha cheer leaders! Que lindas!
The bosses son-Edward and he's band gear!

The 11th graders...nms! Let's not go into who has a crush on whom.

                                                                        The dancers!

You can watch the celebrations from your roof....if your lucky!
Still trying to figure out what these things are!
Our local supermarket...you have to love it! On a bad day we end up going in there up to four times a day!

The best tortilla? Yes I agree.....even though I don't like tortillas unless they are deep fried! Triste, yo seh!
One of Comayagua's taxis. 20 Lempira gets you anywhere in town. They honk like crazy!

                                                                             The school!
Police holding the crowd back for the parade

                                                              The boss/el jefe!
                                                     Tajaditas-or deep fried plantains-love it!

So I ended up joining the band for the parade and I had to dress like one of the students!
Yes the girls had fun with me lol!

                                                            More of the celebrations...

                                                                        Loved her dress...

She opened it up for us!

                                                           The traditional dancers

La Princesscita-the best place for baleadas and it's right on our door step.
I didn't believe it until I saw it but flowers grow on some of the roof-tops!
They have some of the same flowers we do in Jamaica....this takes me back :)
Coconut trees galore, I wish I could pick them as I choose....
Our house (literally) is in the middle of our street! :) Welcome to Honduras!
